A: It works wonderful on my iPhone X, so it should work with yours as well. Have an acquittance who use it with his iPhone 8. And has no issues whatsoever.
Q: does faster charging equal shorter long term battery life?
A: As far as I’ve been experiencing , no my battery life does not drain quicker I honestly feel like it last longer . Hopefully that helps!

A: Yes, it is the same wire that comes with the iPhone 12, which I have been using for several weeks.
