A Great Show (but no subtitles)
||Posted .If you don't know Avatar, I will explain below. If you do know it, then just read this first part. The set does not have the option for subtitles, and that is my only complaint. Otherwise, I would have given it Five Stars; it is a well put together set for this show, and worth the money even with that one complaint.. Now, on to the show. Imagine a world where a form of natural magic exists, powered by an innate ability within the individual in question. Elemental Bending. Earthbenders of the Earth Nation, a structured and orderly society (well... mostly) can move stone with a thought. Airbenders of the Air Nomads, a group of monks and spiritual people who travel between the two major Air Temples of East and West, controlling the very air around them. Waterbenders of the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, Inuit-like people in every respect, able to control and manipulate water (in all its forms). Firebenders of the Fire Nation, a militaristic and expansive people, mastering the power of the flame. One hundred years in this worlds past, the Fire Nation began a plan of conquest of the entire world. Only one man could have stood against him: the Avatar, a bender who, unlike any others, can control every element. However, it was at that time the Avatar vanished, and the Fire Nation's conquest went unchecked. A century later, two teenagers of the Southern Water Tribe discover a young teen trapped in ice, and their lives... nay, the entire WORLD... finds itself changed forever. Travel with Aang, Katara, Sokka, and a myriad of well-defined and often quite deep characters as they attempt to, at first, simply better themselves, and eventually as they try to save the entire world from Fire Nation dominance. A well-voiced cast, a well-done plot, mixed properly with some of the most incredible characters ever seen in young adult animation (and even quite a bit of the more adult animation) and anime-style art (though it is very much American), Avatar: The Last Airbender is a show I would highly recommend!

Good series, and affordable
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This is a great series that I am happy to finally get on DVD. One that has appeal for the whole family, adults as well as children. It's always nice to get a whole series all together like this instead of having to get one season at a time. Price was very reasonable, too. I ordered it online right before Christmas, and the shipping was very fast, It even came a few days before it was scheduled initially.

One of the Smartest Animated Series I've Ever Seen
||Posted .This series was introduced to me by a friend who grew up watching it (I'm a little bit older and I don't have any kids so I missed it). Most of the first season plays out as you'd expect an animated kids show would, but there were enough little details with the martial arts work that it kept my attention. By the time the first season wrapped up I was very much into it. The storytelling, the voice acting work are both top notch and well done. I can't think of many American productions (live action or animated) that payed this much attention and care to the martial arts choreography and Asian culture. The series wraps up in the best way possible and is well worth the journey. Being a "kid's show" doesn't mean you have to treat your audience like an idiot and never do the creators of this series do that. There aren't many series that's as deserving of it's fandom as Avatar: The Last Airbender is.

Best Series Ever from Nickelodeon!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I loved watching this show as a kid and now I am in my 20's and still love it to this day! I binge watched it twice since I bought it and plan to watch it again in the near future! There are so many brilliant lessons that are taught throughout, plus the character development is outstanding! It is not just a kid's cartoon, even as an adult I enjoy it, but kids are welcome to watch since it has no derogatory language or inappropriate behaviors. You won't be disappointed with this series! It is full of adventure, action, deep story plot lines, and excellent characters! I love the whole cast and the art work is brilliant! Definitely one of my favorite shows from childhood!

Great entertainment for young and old.
||Posted .My son introduced me to this series on Netflix. I finally have it on DVD to watch whenever I want instead of waiting for Netflix to make it available. Classic story of the struggle between good and evil with the understanding that not everything is black and white with choices to be made that have consequences. There are very evil characters and very good characters that are fairly obvious; there are also those characters in between, that can provide good starting points for discussions with young children about what's right and wrong and the importance of making good choices in life. Honor and integrity also seem to be important to the story line as well as the struggle to understand what they are to each individual.

One of the best animated series ever!
||Posted .This is the type of show that you point to when you want to show a great example of character development and how it works well within a long term story. It's something that children, teens, and adults could enjoy because it has everything for everyone. It also does many things unexpectedly, and in a great way. The comedy relief character here is actually useful besides cracking jokes, and his jokes are pretty good as opposed to many tropes of his type. There is also a really great, series long development of a villain into an ally, and it works amazingly well. This show is simply greatness, and this collections all of the episodes in a neat set.
