Synopsis

Borat
Master of disguise Sacha Baron Cohen hits the road to explore America as the crude Kazakstani reporter Borat in a feature mockumentary that brings one of the Da Ali G Show star's most popular characters to life on the big screen. Sent by the Kazakh Ministry of Information to gain a better understanding of American culture and bring his findings back home, Borat and faithful producer Azamat (Ken Davitian) set their sights in New York City. When the citizens and interview subjects of the Big Apple seem less than receptive to Borat's distinctively unrestrained approach and the curious Kazakh television personality stumbles across an episode of Baywatch while channel-surfing in his hotel room, he becomes instantly smitten with screen siren Pamela Anderson. Now confident that the only way to discover the true essence of America is to travel to California and make the bikini-clad beauty his bride, Borat purchases a ramshackle ice-cream truck in which he and Azamat will make their way across the Great Plains and on to the sunny West Coast -- all the while coming into contact with a wide variety of "typical" Americans. Within this loose, scripted framework, Borat engages in his usual misbehavior with unsuspecting strangers, from accidentally releasing a chicken from his suitcase on a New York subway ride to a formal interview with Alan Keyes. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

    Funniest Movie of 2006

The first time I saw this was in theatres, and I couldn't stop laughing. His interactions with oblivious bystanders are hillarious, and kept me laughing through the whole movie. The DVD set comes with a couple extra scenes, which are also funny, but really the funniest bits are in the movie itself. The plot is ok, but that's ok because this isn't a plot driven movie. Highlights include a hotel wrestling scene that has to be seen to be believed and a very awkard dinner with a few southern couples. There's more, but really you need to see them. Awesome movie.

If you are offended by anything don't buy this movie. If you are able to look at something as just a movie and can laugh at human nature then you should be OK with this movie. There is one scene that should have been left out. I think everyone would agree with that who has seen it. I find it funny that most of the people who are in this movie were embarrassed by their actions and ended up suing Cohen for how they were protrayed.

Borat is a tough one to review...there are parts where you wont be able to stop laughing and other parts where you'll wonder why you are watching. It is definitely a must see movie - not entirely sure you need it in your movie collection though. The plot is pretty bad but overall Borat delivers on the "funny". You have my approval to buy..

Very funny moive. It provides entertaining satire of American culture. The DVD has few extras, but those it does have are worth the purchase. The footage of Borat on Leno is an instant classic. Those looking for a politically correct film should steer clear....otherwise, everyone else will laugh out loud.

Honestly the first time I saw this movie I hated it. I didn't laugh, I didn't even crack a smile. Then a co-worker told me: "watch again, trust me". So I did, and I found it hillarious for some reason. weird. but I guess some movies are like that now I love this movie.

This movie had no point. I cannot believe that this was such a hit with all of my friends. I saw it and I must've been one of the few ppl who was NOT laughing. I only laughed at the naked fight scene histerically but then the laughing soon died down again.
