A must-have for RF cameras!!!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:BokehJust purchased this lens to go with the R5 and must say I'm Impressed! The RF version of the Nifty Fifty is a game changer. Super portable, perfect bokeh, good in low light, and crazy fast auto-focus. The RF lenses are very expensive so paired with a 24-105, this lens helps complete my lens set on a budget.

A lens that everyone needs to have
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This is the cheapest lens for FR line of lens. It is similar to its EF version in most function but sell $75 dollars more. Every Canon shooter knows about EF version, and we know how it is like. The FR version is slightly better than the EF in macro, and sharpness. There are couple minor issues that bother me. First of all If you have LENS DRIVE WHEN AF IMPOSSIBLE turned on, it will hunt for focal point when you turn it on with lens cover. Secondly there is noticeable chromatic aberration on photo. However, this is the lens that everyone needs to have for spare lens.

Nice upgrade

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Finally got this for my EOS R, the quality is excellent for the price. Makes using the R so much easier without the EF adapter. The 1.8 aperture compensates for the lack of stabilization, the lens remains very sharp even when wide open.

Happy With Purchase

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Lightweight, sharp, good bokeh. Interacts well with the Canon R6. A relatively inexpensive "nifty fifty" and much lighter than the Tamron 45 mm. lens I have for my 5Diii, which I could use with the EF-RF adaptor. Happy so far.

Many people complain its price
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I am also the one on that boat. For $200, we probably deserve more on this lens since unlike its 35mm/85mm version, it doesn't have a stablization. This lens is actually very similar to its EF STM version but sell at much higher price. The biggest problem on its optical performance is the huge chromatic dispersion in the photo. Sometimes it's impossible to remove it with PS which is such a pain.

Q: QuestionCurious if anyone else has issues with this lens trying to focus constantly, even while the lens cap on?
Asked by CZee.
- A:Answer Yes. I have the same issue. This is not at just the RF50mm. I have both RF35mm f/1.8 and RF50mm 1.8 mount on my Canon R6; they both are acting the same when you turn the camera on with the lens cap on. They are immediately hunting for a focal point that's why they are trying to focus constantly. I just learn to not turn my camera on if the lens cap is on.

Q: QuestionThis is compatible with the Canon EOS RP camera right? Will these be restocked?
Asked by Baby.
- A:Answer Yes, it's compatible with all the R mount cameras. You'll likely have to update the firmware on the RP of you haven't updated it recently.

Q: QuestionIs there an adapter you can buy for this lens to work on the canon rebel series cameras?
Asked by adapter.
- A:Answer No, there is no way to adapt RF lenses to the EF lens mount system. You can adapt any EF lens (even EF-s) to the RF system, but can't go back the other way.

Q: QuestionAlready own the EF 50mm 1.4 I use with adapter on R5, is this worthy upgrade? Is this lens comparable in quality to the Canon - EF-S 40mm f/2.8 "pancake" lens?
Asked by Max1030.
- A:Answer The lens hasn't come out yet. All we can see are the preview videos on YouTube made by Canon Ambassadors. So, can't really tell if it's better than the EF version. You'll have to wait until Dec 10th for expert reviews.
