Kenneth Branagh directs Disney's 2015, live-action take on the classic fairy tale Cinderella, which stars Lily James as the put-upon young women forced to endure a life of labor at the hands of her stepmother (Cate Blanchett) after her father dies unexpectedly. Forced to do every menial chore imaginable, Ella maintains her good spirits and eventually strikes up a friendship with a stranger in the woods who turns out to be the prince. When the royal court holds a gala ball, Cinderella wants nothing more to attend, and although her stepmother won't allow it, she gets help from a surprising source.~Perry Seibert
Ella's Furry Friends - See how the animal stars honed their memorable performances
I didn’t even know about this movie until a couple days ago. I saw a review on YouTube about this, advertising the SteelBook. I decided to check it out and glad I did. I really enjoyed this movie, and thought it was well done. The sets and the costumes looked really nice. Beautifully done movie, and very enjoyable. Kind of movie that takes your mind off everyday life and you can just sit back and enjoy. I’m glad I went with the SteelBook instead of just the regular 4K slip cover, it looks fantastic!
We thought this was just going to be for the kids - and I wasn't really that into seeing "Cinderella."
But, I was thoroughly surprised by how beautifully crafted this film is...the art direction (settings, costumes, etc.) and cinematography are first rate. And the performances are very good - Cate Blanchett as the Stepmother gave an outstanding performance that was filled with nuance and realistically vicious and hateful.
I don't know if this was a popular film at the movies or not - but, if you're looking for a movie for the whole family to watch - especially with young children, this is the one for you.
I couldn't really give it five stars because, well, it's STILL "Cinderella" and not really all that INCREDIBLE a movie...but definitely a GOOD movie.
