I first played Devil may cry 1 , 2 & 3 on the ps2 and then played Devil May Cry 4 on my Xbox 360, and what an awesome ride they all were. We then were given DMC ( Devil May Cry ) as what seemed like a reboot of the series, it received a mixed bag of reviews, as some of the changes were just a little to much for some of the die hard fans of the original Devil May Cry to accept. I think the biggest change was to Dante himself, apart from just not sounding like himself he also received a total new character model, the most shocking thing being the short dark hair style instead of the longer white hair . I know that something like hair length and color might seem kind of petty but MANY people really had a problem with it and I as well had to get used to the new look, voice and hair. Now after the initial shock as I began to play the game the issues I had began to fade from memory as the gameplay of DMC was just as fun, flashy and furious as it was in the original games. During the early cut scenes I would see our new Dante and still get a slight feeling of wrongness about him, but after a little more play I didn't even think about it again. The game is just to great to let the little things I mentioned above keep you from having a blast with this game. Now on to our new flashy Xbox One version ( Definitive Edition #.. This is still the DMC you remember except with upgraded polished graphics # it looked awesome on the 360 ) and running at 60 fps and 1080P. I can tell you that the new polish and increase in frame rate and resolution make this already beautiful game simply jaw dropping.. DMC is full of color and is amplified to the extreme in this new version , leaving you drooling at the beauty of this game, and the 60 frames per second give you some of the silkiest controls you have ever had.. This is the question , is a game you have played before worth the purchase price again ? That is what you have to ask yourself. To me at the low price point of 39.99 it is a steal . The new graphics , frame rate and resolution alone are enough for me because I truly enjoyed the game on my 360. If you have never played this game or any of the past entries you are in for a real treat at a relatively low price point. Great price and great value , this is one game that I can say is a must play.. Solid 5 out of 5 Side note : If you don't like Dante's new look you can change his appearance with the character model skins that come packed in this new version. I have been using the skin from the first Devil May Cry and he now looks like our old Dante. There are a selection of skins , I think you have a choice of a skin from DMC 1 - 4 . so if for some reason you don't want to play as the new redesigned Dante you can put one of the skins provided on him and just forget about the new look.. I personally think that was a nice touch for this edition.. Edit : 3-15-15 -I have completed the game on Demon Hunter difficulty and have completed the extra content Virgil's fall.. The main campaign took me about 91/2 hours to complete and I completed Virgil's fall in about an hour & 45 min. I know some could complete this game faster but I am one that looks in every nook and cranny for collectables and such. But even if I didn't you could only shave off maybe 45 min to an hour . But I put in about a total of about 11 hours and 10 minutes into my first play through , and that's not a bad game length at all .. Not to short and not to long , it just feels about right and never over stays it's welcome.. Now it's time to start again on the next hardest difficulty and get some more achievements and enjoy the game all over again.

The original release was met with good reviews from game web sites and magazines but panned by a lot of us plain old gamers out there, and that is not fair. A lot of the hate this game got is because it is not like the original,it changed things because it was made by a new team, Ninja Theory. The dev team made an excellent game that is fulled with powerful music that is both crazed and pounding which gets you pumped to run around and want to kick butt in style. The story is very different from what I remember of the original and was done rather well I believe, This version is different then the original because it is 60fps and 1080p, mechanics have been tweaked (it has customization now for the buttons and added lock on feature among other tweaks) also has the DLC with it. It is also a cheap title, $39.99 (even cheaper with gamers club unlocked) so not a lot of money for an awesome ride of a game!

This is not the Dante you are used to seeing, but this game is amazing. Not only does it look beautiful in 1080p 60fps, it handles perfectly. The controls are nice, no clunky moments. I really can't get over the visuals on this game and how captivating the foregrounds and the backgrounds both rendered. Fast game play with tons of customization for how you want your character to play as. This version comes with some extra skins so if you aren't a fan of the new Dante look, you can swap it with the original white long haired one. There are as usual many difficulty modes to choose from so if you want to push your luck you can try. Boss Fights are rewarding and the story just plays out perfectly. Bottom line, if you never played a Devil May Cry game, this is a great way to get into the series.

      Very Fun Gameplay, Unnecessarily Vulgar

The reboot of Devil May Cry turned out to have the best combat system yet presented in the DMC series and was very enjoyable to play. However, the dialog was unnecessarily vulgar and filled with foul language, which the other games did not go to. Furthermore the story line and graphics were interesting, but also unnecessarily gross. The DMC series has always had exotic and interesting places and monsters to fight, but this game showcased both disgusting and disturbing monsters and environments, this was especially true in the case of two of the boss fights. If this sort of thing does not bother you DMC is a very addictive game to play and a pleasantly challenging game to master. However, I can only recommend this game to those who have hearty imaginations and constitutions.

DMC for the Xbox 360 was a worthy attempt at rebooting the Devil May Cry franchise, but it sacrificed many of the series staples in pursuit of this new vision. With the Definitive Edition, the name lives up to the title in every way. The enhanced graphics now run at a smooth framerate of 60 FPS. The Bloody Palace, a series staple (and DLC in the original release) is now included, as is all of the original content. The combat has been refined, and has placed this game in the top contenders for best entry in the franchise. A great hack and slash game with very satisfying gameplay and an entertaining (if a bit cheesy) story.

Devil May Cry is simply one of my favorite game series out there. This game, which was originally a ps3 and xbox360 game, really holds up on the new generation of consoles. Added to it, all the DLC that came out for the original game is included on the disc for the next gen version, which means extra skins and the Virgil's Downfall DLC. For the price you get a good value. The combo system in this game is just simply a masterpiece! It allows you to seamlessly flow between any of you equipped weapons to create a truly unique hack and slash experience.

Seems ok but I hope the original blonde Dante comes back in the future games. I haven't gotten around to playing anything but the demo and probably would have liked it better if I hadn't been missing the more awesome Dante. I'm not a fan of the real skinny emo characters that have been popping up in some games, I don't care for the overly huge characters, like Gears of War too much either but can handle it a little better and this Dante isn't too bad though and from what I could tell the game mechanics seemed ok.

This game is edgy, got it for a good price. Never played any of the previous titles so I was surprised. It's 60 frames a second at 1080p. Obviously the graphics are a bit dated. But the gameplay is excellent. I find it's a good stress reliever and I like the story. I'm not one that has 8 hours to sit in front of my console. So I can sit for a quick session. Some of the bonus stages take strategy. It's got a built in practice arena. You can test skills out before you choose them as upgrades. Buy it.
