Which is interesting, because that Pick is a little different, combining the second sets of two different nights instead of offering a single show. But it's the exception that proves the rule-the playing is so extraordinary, and the repertoire so unusual, that one can understand why Dick Latvala played more curator than archivist here. In the Summer of 1989, word was out that The Grateful Dead were recording their summer tour for an upcoming live album. Thankfully, word later spread that they were also recording the magnificent Fall Tour of 1989. And then the equally great Spring Tour of 1990.
