Does not stay cold and runs constantly

This fridge is the most problematic appliance we've ever had, starting a month or two after we got it. It frosts up easily then the frost covers the vents and it won't circulate the air and we've lost >$100 of food. The only solution is to empty and defrost it and wipe it down Even when not frosted it the freezer temp varies by 20 degrees day-to-day (I have z-wave thermometer in it to know). The problem can be seen in the placement of the vents being prone to this so it appears to be a design issue. The fridge now runs constantly and can cool only down to 54-57 degrees so is no longer trustworthy while just 6 months old. AVOID this fridge! It looks like a nice basic fridge but it can't do the basic function of keeping food cold.

EngineerS, I am dismayed to hear your refrigerator is not functioning as expected. The only thing that can cause frost buildup inside a freezer is warm moist air. Please check that the door is shutting properly, and has a good seal with the gasket. You can test the seal by placing a dollar bill on the cabinet and close the door. When you pull the dollar bill out, if the seal is working, you will feel some resistance. Today's modern high efficiency refrigerators use high speed compressors that make a humming / pulsating noise. These refrigerators will run most of the time and only stop when a defrost cycle is needed to thaw ice buildup in the freezer. Some hard surfaces like floors, walls, kitchen cabinets, and open concept living spaces, may make sounds more noticeable. You will find the normal sounds your refrigerator will exhibit are listed on page 24 in your Owner’s Manual. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly for assistance by calling Mon-Fri, 8a-8p or Saturday 9a-6p EST @ 888-203-1389. *Ruth Frigidaire

      Regret this decision

Previous refrigerator was 39 years old, figured probably not very efficient, and electric company paying me $100 to replace it, so this Frigidaire 18cf FFTR1814TW, $522 regular price, seemed like a bargain. On sale for $400, and after $100 back from electric company, costs me $300. What a shoddy piece of cr*p. Had to reverse the doors, and most screws are self-tapping in very thin metal. Flimsy wire shelves. To level unit, according to instructions, adjust screws in front to raise/lower rollers, and screw rear feet in/out. WRONG. Rear are rollers with no feet, and no adjustment available. Front are rollers that do not adjust, but there are feet that can be screwed in/out. Therefore the only way to level unit is to put a shim under one of the rear rollers, as the unit is not level left to right. I truly doubt this refrigerator will last very long. Really wish I still had the old one. Appears to be a waste of money, even at $300, and I regret the purchase.

      Not for a Kitchen Fridge

This fridge would be great for a basement or garage or anywhere it cannot be heard. When the freezer fan is on, it makes a sound similar to a quick faucet drip hitting a tin-can that lasts far longer than I can handle. Another issue is that ice started forming around where the freezer seal touches - and I had only had the unit for a couple days when it started. The shelves along the doors feel flimsy - but I do like the wire shelving in the main part of the fridge. I called to return it today and will GLADLY wait for a different brand to be delivered! On a positive note; it looks nice & holds my food at the desired temperatures - but you get what you pay for I guess!

When a different frig suddenly died, I needed a replacement soon and without spending an arm and a leg. This frig fit the bill perfectly. High quality “basic” no water/ice in the door but that’s ok because I love Sonic ice! One of the best things was the free delivery with appliances over $399. Delivery was scheduled between 8 AM and noon. At 8:15 the delivery people called saying they would be at our house between 8:45 and 9:00. They arrived at 8:55, expertly backed a large truck up a narrow drive, removed the old frig, installed the new frig and were on their way to the next delivery by 9:15! And they were polite too. AMAZING SERVICE!

Simple refrigerator that does not have too many accessories such as an icemaker that would only occupy more space and break. I use an Ice tray instead. The review says it is noisy but it did not describe the noise. I do hear some sound but I know that it is working. On the first day, there was some sound of ice maybe falling down inside. After the first day I did not hear it any more. I assume that that is normal to all brand new refrigerators. Overall, I'm happy with it but it is too new to give it an excellent review.

Needed a basic fridge for the garage. This one is your basic swing door fridge and economical. There's no high tech stuff to break (expensive thing have expensive problems). It's just your simple plain-Jane fridge. I just needed something in the garage to store leftover foods and freeze meats. Just a heads up, the freezer section is not that roomy. So you have to use space wisely. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase. If you're looking for a basic fridge for extra storage or a man cave, this is your item.

There is ample room, the door has extra shelf space on the bottom for larger containers and the shelves are transparent. (Read: practically everything visible) Recommended settings don't freeze in the fridge and the freezer also has a lot of space. Easy to clean. Not crazy about the shape of the crisper drawers, only the front half of the drawer is deep but so far this hasn't been a true negative because there is plenty of space for everything.

With a growing family we quickly ran out of space in our regular refrigerator. We purchased this model after doing research and talking to the salesman. We initially were going with another brand but because this unit was going into an non air condition garage the salesman said that the better seals and thicker walls on this product would function more efficiently. We went with his recommendation. Our electric bill didn’t increase much at all and everything is ice cold.
