Q: Does this unit have odor control?
A: No, it does not offer an odor control feature. We do not recommend compacting food waste such as raw meat, fish, rinds, personal hygiene items and disposable diapers as these items can create very strong odors and should not go into the compactor. -Vikki@GEAppliances

Q: How does the drawer pull out. This isn't the trash can type?
A: No - it is a drawer. Pretty small but not the trash can type. Paying more nowadays to get less. Does the job but is really loud

Service Very Poor
We’ve owned this product less than a year had problems with the door open. Item is broke cannot open the door makes a loud bangs and the biggest problem is trying to get it fixed every phone number you call talk to somebody else now they want me to bring it to the store. This compactor weighs just as much as the fridge. Very dissatisfied.

Not as good as older Model
This is not as good as the previous models. Bum is smaller and it doesn’t compact as well. Also this model is much louder. I’m not sure why they changed the design but they shouldn’t have!

Lots of changes have been made in last decade.
I have to say when we went to replace our 12 yr old trash compactor we learned alot! They don't make many anymore cause the younger generation deals with trash differently (recycle, compost, etc). Ours have always come with our homes, and being older folk (late 70's) we really appreciate what they do for us. But with the help of Best Buy we were able to order just what we wanted to replace the old one. We do have a delivery problem, and can't expect delivery till first of next year. Meantime we're adjusting to the inconveniece just fine. Glad when it arrives.
