'Slow Cooker' really is, and great for chili

Bought it online, on sale, and figured, what-the-heck, at this price, with in-store pickup, I can get a few good uses out of it. I fully expect a lot more than that now. I have not been disappointed. PRO: Made chili on first use, cooked on 'slow' for 12 hrs. Cooking level was perfect, with only a few bubbles every minute. Did not burn 1 piece of meat or scorch any of the spices. Clean up of ceramic bowl and lid was easy, with only a dishcloth, soap and water. Lid retainer band (rubber band) is tight, holds the lid in place, and locks well under the handles, without slipping. CON: Bad fitting lid. Lid seemed poorly made, did not fit the ceramic bowl properly and left space between the ceramic edge and lid, but, it did cover the entire opening of the ceramic bowl. Aluminum rim around the top of the outer casing is exposed and, IMHO, Will Burn you if you touch it (and this was on 'slow' cook), so, be careful. Outer casing is very thin and can be easily dented or damaged. Handle and store it carefully. This is why I rated it a '3-Star' on 'Durability'. FINAL: I did not expect much from this cooker, considering the price. As far as cooking, it more than exceeded my expectations. If you take care of it, be careful how you handle it, and remember not to get burned . . . I consider this a Very Good Buy - at the price I paid for it.

      Right for the price!

I needed a slow cooker and I needed it to be inexpensive, as I knew I wouldn't use it but once or twice a year. I've now had it a month, and we've probably used it ten times. First off - a word of warning - this is not a family size cooker. You can get in about a 2 lb roast with 2 cups of veggies max. But with only two of us in the household, that's all we needed. It has three distinct settings - keep warm, low, and high - which in essence allows me to prepare a meal the night before, cook it at high all night, then leave it on low or keep warm all day depending on when we plan on eating it. The meat comes out so tender that it melts in your mouth. It's very durable as well - dishwasher safe and all that. It also has this strap that you can tie the lid down with and transport in your car without risking a messy cleanup. That was a definite plus - no more shrimp gumbo in the floormats. Great product for an amazing price...might be investing in a larger one though for entertaining family and such.

      3 Qt slow Cooker

I have used this several times in the last month. It has performed perfectly each time. It brings my food to a simmer but has not yet burned it. I have cooked milk based puddings, I am currently heating milk for yogurt and it works perfectly each time. My only complaint is I took some soup to a potluck, and used the strap to secure the lid. The lid is not truly liquid tight, even with the strap attached I had some soup slosh around. I thought the lid would be "spill proof" but that was not the fact. I like the vent hole, and have used it to insert a thermometer several times. I also want to note that it is oval, and not round, as I had initially assumed. Overall, for the price I paid I would (and have) recommended it to several people.

lean "instruction" booklet (which really, what instructions might one need for a slow cooker...), good packaging, and some other useful information came with it. recipes can be found all over the internet, and this simple gizmo has already proven it does what it's supposed to. we're a family of 3 (small kid) so really, cooking on it is enough to have food for 2 days or so for all of us. pot is solid enough, good ceramic material, and knob is easy: off, keep warm, low, high. perfect for me, slow cookers are supposed to be set and forget, and this thing definitely accomplishes that.

I am so glad I got this for my girlfriend. She made the best carnitas and shredded beef I've ever had with this thing and it was her first time cooking both. The lid has a rubber gasket and it doesn't seem to fit perfectly, it slides around a little, but I don't think it's a big issue. Just throw some meat in there, water, chili powder etc... let it go for 8 hours, voila. You can cut up the meat if it doesn't fit. The white rubber band is for securing the lid while transporting the unit. Low temp is about 175 f, high is about 280 f. A nice upgrade would be a digital temperature setting.

      Super little slow-cooker

I have been really impressed with this crockpot, and it is one of the best kitchen investments I have made. I cook mainly for myself, so I prepare smaller quantities. It cooks well on high without burning, and the lower setting does great as it cooks all day while I am at work. It also has a setting for keeping the food warm, and it works well, too. Cleanup is so easy -- and the footprint is small and fits my needs in a small apartment. This little cooker really rocks!

I ordered this slow cooker because I was looking for a smaller one to use along with OR instead of my 6.5 quart one all the time. This one is perfect! It does not have an automatic shut off, which I knew from my research on it and previous reviews, but that is not a deal breaker for me. Although I am use to the automatic shut off with my other one, I am still pleasantly pleased with this item!

      Greate Slow Cooker

At only $10, this was a great deal. It cooks at the right temperature and the seal on the lid is a nice touch. One thing to note is that this is not a 3 quart slow cooker. When filled to the rim with water, it only holds 2.5 quarts. But that is exactly what I was looking for so it ended up being perfect for me.
