Disney's animation team dipped into the rich well of ancient mythology for this musical comedy. The son of Greek gods Zeus (voice of Rip Torn) and Hera (Samantha Eggar), Hercules (voice of Josh Keaton) is stolen as a boy by the minions of Hades (voice of James Woods), lord of the underworld. Forced to live among humans, Hercules is turned into a half-god and half-mortal after drinking a forbidden potion brewed by Hades' right hand men, Pain (voice of Bob Goldthwait) and Panic (voice of Matt Frewer). Now Hercules has the remarkable strength of a god, but is trapped in the body of a human, and before he learns how to use his power properly he goes through a typically adolescent awkward period. In order to become a god and return to his home on Mount Olympus, Hercules must prove himself a true hero on Earth. With the assistance of Philotes (voice of Danny De Vito), a plucky satyr known as "Phil," the grown-up Hercules (voice of Tate Donovan) learns to use his strength to his advantage and becomes a famous and benevolent protector of those around him, successfully battling a variety of gods and monsters. However, Hades, wanting to cut Hercules down to size, sends his secret weapon after him -- Megara (voice of Susan Egan), a seductively beautiful woman under Hades' control, who is to win Hercules' heart and render him helpless against the forces of the underworld. Acclaimed British cartoonist Gerald Scarfe served as production designer for this project, while Alan Menken wrote the musical score. Incidentally, for the Spanish language version of the film, Latin pop singer Ricky Martin provided the singing voice of Hercules, two years before he became a chart-topping sensation in America with his hit single "Livin' la Vida Loca."~Mark Deming

I purchased this as a gift for an adult daughter who loved this movie as a child. This one is going to be remade soon with live actors. This is the original animated movie. It does not have the recognition of some of the other Disney animated movies but this is a good choice for the kids.
I went to buy some Powerline products and was told they would probably meet my problem. A manager (I think) stopped me and said I can try them and return them if they don’t work as I desired but I should plan to return them. He then got me to a great employee named Noel (Grapevine, TX) who gave me great advice and we decided to go with the Eero mesh network product. We went home, installed it in less than 20 minutes and it’s amazing. Our pool pump Aqualink controller was intermittent with our previous WiFi setup and now it’s working great and our deadspots around the house are now gone.
I appreciate the candor and advice that went against what I thought I needed.
I remember watching this movie many times on vhs and the rest of the other Disney movies, when I was a kid. Also, I upgraded to this blu ray disc and dvd combo pack with widescreen and better 1080p picture quality this year, after my old vcr player is wear out.
I didn't know that this movie was available on Blu-Ray. I was a. little skeptical, but when I received it, I was pleasantly surprised. I had not problems with the playback of the disks and the movie was great as well! It's always been one of my favorite movies.
Hercules has been streaming on Netflix for over a year now, so this release isn’t the first time we’ve had a chance to see it in HD. Because I recently saw it streaming in HD, I was surprised at how much better this Blu-ray release is. The quality is hard to compare visually; the Blu-ray is so much crisper. The differences are even bigger when it comes to sound. The remastered sound is absolutely incredible. This quality of audio and video is matched throughout the five different releases.
As far as special features go, Hercules doesn’t offer that much. The Making of Hercules is a nice feature, but the music video and sing-along aren’t really that special.
Hercules is one of Disney’s best animated movies, and given the technical quality of the Blu-ray, it’s a must purchase.
