It's a record that complements and blurs the lines of soul, funk and disco, and was once so rare that not even the band knew of it's existence. Only in recent times have we been able to put together a picture of a group growing up in The Bronx with the burning desire to perform and light up the stage.Tracks like 'Everything Is You', 'Don't Fight It' and 'Fool In Love' are glorious examples of the heavenly soul sound the group construct with harmonizing waves of soothing vocals dancing together with warm string sections. 'Happy Music' and the following 'Do It Nice' up the tempo and show off another side to their sound as the songs twist and turn through proggy synthesizer solos and funk guitar rhythms. Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Sam's Town is the second studio album by alt-rock band The Killers, released in October, 2006. Regarding the album, vocalist and primary lyricist Brandon Flowers noted that he Inchwanted to create an album that captured, chronologically, everything important that got me to where I am todayInch. Sam's Town has sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide. The album takes it's name from Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, the band's hometown. Sam's Town was also a huge sign that was visible by band member Mark Stoermer through his room window when he was young. The album is said to be influenced by the works of U2, Duran Duran, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Electric Light Orchestra, and Dire Straits, among others. Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression.
