The Gold Standard for Entry-Level Sim Racing
I owned a Logitech MOMO racing wheel in the 2000s, and that was a premium product. But times have change since then and this really is the defined starting point for many sim racers now. VALUE: On sale for about $250, this was really a no-brainer. It's the right cost to see if you really even want to (or are skilled enough) to justify buying more expensive equipment. I will say after trying to dial down my desk setup for this with various items, I give up and I'm ready to purchase a Playseat Challenge X Logitech Edition to really dial in this setup. So yeah, at that point you are at about $600+ including the shifter (not really necessary for GT racing), but that is still the low end of this hobby. And you will be enjoying fully it at the casual level. QUALITY: The pedals and steering wheel feel really great for what many consider intro-level products. But unless you have actual track time, you probably don't need anything more if you are starting out at sim racing. Like above, the quality will increase when you combine this with a cockpit. Everything will be aligned mostly correctly and not shifting around, which will make your inputs better and racing more successful. I honestly can't wait to see how much more I will get out of this with the PlaySeat Challenge X. The Playseat Trophy might be better choice, but only if you have an entire space permanently dedicated to sim racing. EASE OF USE: Well, here I give a bit of a hit because like any other input devices, like joysticks for flight or microphones and cameras for recording, you are going to have to put some technical effort in to getting it just right for your setup and for your particular games. Sometimes things do not just work plug and play and setting everything up requires some testing and patience. On top of that, setting this up at a regular PC desk without a cockpit (no resistance on your chair wheels or a solid desk to mount) to will result in a lot of shifting of the inputs. Even on my massive butcher block desk, the wheel will sometimes pull out sliding on the laminate. When you are braking and oversteering there is a natural tendency to pull the wheel towards you, and having it mounted in place will defeat that. The shifter can move around too, especially after desperate quick-shifts (imho a hallmark of classic road car racing). Simply put, I don't see why the wheel, shifter, and challenge x aren't just offered in a sweet in-store only bundle for like $570, because they all function with each other and improve the experience together. You can see the PlaySeat brake and clutch combination pedal I purchased, which should also be included in this bundle. Then they could charge the whole $600. It's a beautiful pedal, and matches and fits perfectly on the G920 pedal base. If you are going to get in to GT racing, then this is really a must-have, so you can left-foot brake effectively. CONCLUSION: Despite the drawbacks, if you are just getting in to sim racing, and still figuring out how much you like it or what games to play of dialing in your desk/cockpit arrangement, this is still the best value option to go with while you evaluate those things. Spending more would be foolhardy if you then 4 months later decide you just can't be bothered with racing. Or have the space. The shifter is really kind of optional, most iRacing vehicles use a sequential shiftbox that the paddles on the wheel will handle. If you like racing rally, drift, classic cars, or factory stock cars, then the shifter is a great addition. For rally and drift, you are probably also going to want to get a dedicated handbrake input. Some people use the shifter as a handbrake, I have not tried that so I can't advise. But you have everything you need to experiment and decide if you want to spend more on a bigger better setup. Hand-down the old rig to your nephew and hit the tracks.

G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel Review
All in all, the g920 is a pretty good wheel if you’re going for a budget build. If you don’t mind paying $400 I would get the g923. I am using Windows 10 and the g920 Xbox version on a Asus gaming laptop which can run this pretty well. The Brake pedal is quite stiff and has dual motors unlike the newer model g923. The pedals are better on the g923 in that regard. The price on the g920 is still pricey for how long this model has been on the market it most likely would sell better if it was at $150 but that’s my opinion. It’s not the newest model but good for what I wanted. Games I play using this is: Forza Horizon 4, Need for Speed Heat, BeamNG.Drive and the Crew 2 there are most likely more games that are better with this wheel but those are all I have. But like I said before it’s a good wheel for what it’s worth.

Plug and play entry level wheel
Great entry-level wheel for racing sims. I’d recommend picking up the G29 version if you’re playing on PC, though, as it has a couple extra buttons that the G920 doesn’t and both will work on a PC.
