Sound, Style, and Sun: A Voyage into Lucyd Lyte
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lucyd Lyte Voyager Aviator Bluetooth Sunglasses offer a decent blend of style, functionality, and high-tech features that aim to provide an enhancing experience for the wearer. Out of the box, the product boasts a plethora of accessories including a cleaning cloth, soft case, hard case, magnetic charger for both sides, and a charging block – a thoughtful consideration indicating a thorough user-centric design approach. The instructions provided are straightforward and useful, covering essentials like operation for music, calls, voice assistant (compatible with Siri or Google), pairing, and charging. A significant measure of the product's quality is its simple yet solid build which exudes a feel of robustness. The glasses provide a good, secure fit for a medium-size head, though the adaptability to larger head sizes could be put to question. These sunglasses also have nice aesthetics, seamlessly combining contemporary trends with classic appeal. Connectivity-wise, the sunglasses excel. The Bluetooth reaches up to 100 feet, comfortably covering a 1300 sq ft apartment, and pairs easily with mobile devices. The estimated playtime is a substantial 12 hours on a single charge, highlighting practicality for day-long use. The speaker and microphone embedded in the arms produce clear sound, but the bass might leave audiophiles wanting. Despite this, the glasses allow an immersive yet safe sonic experience, keeping external sounds audible as well. Worth noting is the marginal sound leakage which might be noticeable by someone sitting right next to you. Taking these sunglasses on a run is a pleasantly surprising experience - they stay firm, even during prolonged physical activity. Furthermore, they connect easily to electronic devices like my Garmin watch. There are easy-to-operate buttons for volume control, play/pause, and track skipping embedded on each side - a testament to the thoughtful design to cater to active lifestyles. In terms of the visual aspect, the polarized sunglasses are highly effective at sun-blocking and allowing clear vision. The call quality is commendably clear, adding versatility to the glasses' functionality, making them suitable for various outdoor activities or driving. A noteworthy feature is the IP56 rating, indicating significant resistance against dust and water. This, along with the availability of Google assistant and chat GPT functions, scores significant points. The relevant mobile app, while offering a simple user interface, could stand to provide more features and settings for a fully-rounded experience. To sum it up, the Lucyd Lyte Voyager Aviator Bluetooth Sunglasses are a comprehensive, quality product. The strong build, ease of use, and multifunctionality overshadow the minor hiccups like slightly compromised sound quality, frames that might be a bit small for some, and a basic mobile application. They make a reliable, stylish, and high-tech accessory for anyone who wants to enhance their outdoor experience, or daily drive to work.

Bulky yet comfortable!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm always looking for the next thing to try for listening to music - and I love being outside so I thought these Smart Sunglasses would be a nice addition to my tech arsenal - and I was right! as the title says - they are a bit big and bulky, but I realize they Lucyd had to pack them full of batteries, chips and speakers - so I feel that is understandable. Sound quality is good for something so small. As you'd expect it's not a rich full sounding bass explosion, but definitely good enough to listen to while walking or spending time outdoors. I won't use these when mowing the yard as I want more in-ear style headphones that also serve somewhat as ear plugs. You can control volume, songs and more through "taps" on the left or right side of the glasses - so you'll have to memorize what they mean - or use the volume on your phone. The sunglasses part of this smart eyewear piece is great. Quality lenses with a gradient shading feature that I like more than I expected. Images are crisp and clean without distortion or waviness. You can change out the lenses with prescription lenses if needed. I can definitely see how smart eyewear will continue to enhance people daily lives - just grab the glasses and go! No more searching for the earbuds or wearing over the head headsets, it's all included in these smart shades! I plan to continue to use these for my solo outdoor activities going forward!

Nice build quality, poor sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, I'll admit, I have no real use for these. The only sunglasses I usually wear are prescription ones when I drive. Otherwise I never wear glasses. But these seemed kind of neat, so I thought I'd play with them anyway. I like technology. Maybe I could use them when I'm walking or on my bicycle. First impression - not a fan of the fit - they're relatively small, very narrow, so they're tight on the side of my head. I don't have a weirdly large head - regular glasses, such as cheaters, fit OK. The flat folding case - honestly, it's a thing of beauty. I LOVE this case. It folds flat when empty, with a magnetic closure. When you use it for the glasses, it's like a piece of origami and opens up to hold the glasses in a triangular shaped case, again with the magnetic enclosure. Very nicely done indeed. Ships with a wall wart for charging and a cable with two proprietary magnetic charging ends. This is something I always ding things for in reviews. Proprietary cable means more of a pain if something happens - damaged cable, lost, whatever. I always prefer things that use standard USB. But I'm guessing there was no good way to get power and wires and sound transmission from one side to the other with the hinges for the arms... So this was likely their only option. Still would've preferred a USB plug though - there appears to be enough room for it. I rarely use my cell phone for calls, strangely enough. So I've never been into headgear for it. No Bluetooth microphones. I have a set of Air Pod Pros for music, but I've never once taken a call on them. About the only place I do use Bluetooth for phone calls is in my car via the onboard entertainment system. So I was curious how these would work. I was also curious about music playability. I love music. I'm a musician on top of other things, so music is important to me. These, with the open ear sound, I knew I was going to probably be disappointed with sound quality compared to ear pods (which I really don't like) or headphones (my preference if I have to use something to keep music private). But these DO afford me one thing that the pods don't - an ability to better hear your environment. When you're running or biking, I've never been a fan of music devices that totally plug your ear canal and render you defenseless to the environment since you can no longer hear things as well that you may need to hear. Build quality is actually outstanding. No wiggle at all on the arms, hinges are nice and solid and open and close easily but have no movement they should NOT have. They feel pretty solid. The instructions tell you to use the left touch button to turn on the right arm, and the right touch button to turn on the left arm. Clearly that's a mistake, each side turns itself on, not the opposite side. You need to turn on each side individually, and each button offers multiple results. One touch for volume up/down via the left/right button. Double touch to pause or play via either button. Triple touch for track forward/back skip, again each side doing one or the other. Not a fan of things like this, but I understand the simplicity for manufacturing to have a single user input source on each side. Oddly enough you have to power both sides on individually (unless you just removed it from the charger), but either side when held for 7 seconds powers off BOTH arms. Paired without issue on my phone, an older iPhone 13 Pro Max. Again, small. Not the most comfortable to wear. Arms are short - I wish they had been straight, not with the big curved part in the design that looks like where your ear should be. My ear is well behind that so it just looks odd. The product photos appear to maybe be photoshopped - measuring the distances don't equate to reality. The space between the icon on the side of the arm and the hinge and then that same space multiplied behind the icon to the curve for the ear aren't the same between the photo and what is in my hand. So the image has been manipulated to make the arms look longer. Music - even at full volume, it's really not going to cut it in any environment with even just a little ambient noise. Walking down a city street, I can see these being completely unusable. I have issues even on a bike just from wind noise. The controls at least work well. Single, double, triple tap of the buttons, it reads them well, so the controls are not frustrating. But placement is. I find I inadvertently hit buttons when I go to take them off or put them on. The voice assistant side of things worked fine. I was able to have it play music on my iPhone via name of song or artist. Phone calls are about the same as the music. Very low level and lost in ambient noise. These would be totally unusable for me, for example, while driving with a window down. As I said, even on my bicycle, they're difficult to use. But the people I talked to, as long as I was in a quiet environment, could hear me fine. But a quiet environment would likely be indoors, and I wouldn't be wearing sunglasses indoors. I'm struggling to find a use scenario where these would actually be beneficial.

Good Sound – Slightly Bulky Arms
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These sunglasses are a great addition to my music listening device collection and have the added benefit of being able to use them conveniently on walks, at the beach or anywhere you want to wear sunglasses. My model is what they call Voyager. From a style and construction perspective, I think they are well made. They are solidly constructed without much added weight. Realizing there is technology in each arm, they are a bit bulky on the sides and depending on your head size, you may or may not find them to be comfortable so I recommend trying out each of their different styles to find your best fit. The lens are regular black tint. They do slightly transition to less protection as you look down which could be on purpose for style or to allow you to read something. Included with the glasses are the charging cable and block, a cleaning cloth, a soft case and a hard protective case. Out of the box, I charged them with the included cord that has magnetic prongs that attach to each arm. After about an hour they were ready to go. When I turned them on for the first time, they immediately went into pairing mode which made it simple to find on my phone and become accessible as my speaker and microphone for calls and hands free assistant. Controlling your music is similar to ear buds or headphones. By pressing the small buttons on either of the arms, you can fast forward, rewind, pause, play and can control the volume. For incoming calls, it is very similar allowing you to answer, ignore, or hang up as well as being able to answer a second call that may come in. Regarding the sound, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and sharpness of the music at all levels. You have to keep in mind that these are not in ear buds or overear headphones so you will hear the sounds from the glasses as well as everything around you. For small speakers built into glasses, the bass is adequate and the tone level is good. I would like to have more volume but generally, it is sufficient. The sound does “leak” which could be bothersome for those around you as they will be able to hear what you are playing. That said, keep in mind that others can also overhear your phone calls. When it comes to the microphone, those I was speaking to could not tell I was not speaking into the phone or other microphone. They worked very well for calls. Overall, I like these glasses. There are several styles to choose from and the sound is certainly adequate for not being in or on your ear and they are great for phone calls. I don’t think you can go wrong giving these a try.

Great looking and convenient
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lucyd Lyte Voyager glasses are pretty clever. They're perfect for doing activities where you want to listen to music/take calls, but don't want to risk dropping an ear bud or still want to listen to the outside world and not be noise cancelled. The glasses are well styled and a nice throwback to the 80s. Pretty sure my dad had glasses shaped like these. Come with a nice soft case, hard case and cleaning cloth. Both arms charge seperately and can be used at the same time or just one of them. These arent bone conduction headphones, there are two speakers on each side. If it is turned up too loud other people will be able to hear them. If you're walking around busy/noisy areas I'm sure noone will notice or care, but if it's absolutely quiet around you, it would be heard compared to earbuds. I like using them when walking the dog or if I'm out and about, say at an amusement park where there's noise, lots of walking/standing/etc For BT calls, sound is excellent. People on the other end state that calls are perfectly clear and that they didn't sound like I was using headphones at all. Calls come on pretty clear for you as well, but not as great as some proper headphones. But that could also be dependent on the other person's connection. Music quality is ok. Don't expect audiophile quality. For what they are; four speakers above and below your ears, they're pretty good. It's more for the convenience and ability to listen with ease than for enjoying high quality music listening They are polarized so they also work excellently as sunglasses. Battery life is great, I've been using them for walks all week and haven't charged them yet. If you have a smaller head or small ears, the arms may feel really wide for you, as they are quite thicker than normal sunglasses.

Good looking and Sound good too!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for stylish sunglasses that also double up as your music listening device, your search is complete! You can use them during your outdoor activities while enjoying music (or your favorite audio book or podcast) and still keeping in touch with the external environment. The build quality is solid. The music tech is embedded in the arms so they are bit bigger than your usual sunglasses but I don't find them uncomfortable. The initial setup was quite easy and strightforward. I charged them for about one hour using the provided charger, turned them on and they went into pairing mode. My phone had no problems pairing them. The sound quality is good. Ofcourse, it can't match with in-ear or over-ear headphones but in my opinion that's the whole point. I was pleasantly surpised with the call quality. The microphones have built-in dual noise-cancelling tech which makes the call sound crisp. When I asked the caller about the sound at their end, they said that they were able to hear me loud and clear with minimal background noise and it was as if I was using the phone or other headphones. The lenses are polarized UV400 and they have black tint that gradually transitions towards the bottom. Overall, these are good sunglasses. If you are looking for sunglasses with audio, you definitely need to give these a try.

sunglasses so cool in that they are also earphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lucyd - Lyte Voyager Aviator Wireless Sunglasses These sunglasses are so cool in that they are also voice response smart audio streaming devices. They have 4 speakers in the side frame temples. They can be used for music and for phone calls and also for requesting weather, search data, sports scores, stock prices, placing phone calls, and other info using the Google or Siri function on your smart phone. If you have Alexa app on your phone, they also work with that after tapping the Alexa button in the app. They are designed in a style for both men and women named Aviator. They have tiny chrome button controls in each frame temple to invoke call answering, play/pause, track skip, volume adjustment, and voice assistant activation. Quite some engineering on these glasses! Lucyd states up to 12 hours of playback per charge and 160 hours of standby connection time. In my first days with these glasses, I have not yet charged them. Obviously, the sound heard while playing music is not similar to wearing Sony, Bose, Technics, JBL, or Philips high quality headphones but these are almost weightless, and they are amazing to enable music playback while wearing sunglasses. The lenses have UV protection and polarized lens. The sun protection is good and makes being outdoors on a bright strong sun day more enjoyable. The circuit is based on Bluetooth 5.2 and I had no trouble connecting them to my Samsung Android 14 phone, my MSI Windows 11 gaming laptop, and other tablets and, for fun, indoors to my Alexa speakers which have Bluetooth. Lucyd claims a 100 foot range. The frame temples have 2 built in noise-canceling microphones to enable clear phone calls. I was told my phone calls sounded good and no one asked why I sounded different or bad when using these sunglasses for calls when I did not mention I was using sunglasses to speak to people! . Lucyd states that these Voyager sunglasses with speakers and microphones are water splash proof but no one should use them while swimming or in the pool. They are not totally waterproof and should never be put in the water. The box includes the sunglasses, a nice hard case, a soft “slip case”, a USB charger cord that magnetically connects to each temple, a real USB charger of 1 amp that takes 2 hours to fully charge the glasses,, and a cleaning cloth. Register them for the 1 year warranty

Aviators of the Future
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lucyd Lyte 2.0 has finally been released and can be summed up in one word… progress. There are some hardware improvements and a new gimmick ChatGPT, but new frames, lenses, and colors are the real reason for the Lyte 2.0. I am reviewing is the Voyager Aviators in all black with a gradient black tint. They have a nice look, but my main complaint is the arms are on the thicker side. These are my go-to glasses for evening walks and runs. They are great for those doing work outside. Everything is easy to use and setup after unboxing once you pair. Be sure to press both power buttons on the arms near your temples to hear in stereo. These Aviators are lightweight and stylish while also being affordable, coming in at just under $150. Now, there are new options in the $150 sunglasses tier to choose between smart functionality and innovation or simple glasses you know and love. It is built almost entirely of a plastic blend that is both strong flexible and while also being flimsy. They fit reasonably well; however, I wish the arch had some sort of padding or customizable fit. These are one size fits all, so if they don’t fit around your ears like mine or you get extra pressure on your nose and face, there is nothing you can do. What I love about these glasses is the incorporation of innovation without looking too much like conceptual eyewear. All the benefits of audio and hands-free Bluetooth for calls are welcomed in an alternative to always having earbuds in my ears. Audio is clear and loud for most situations; however, anything over 50% volume has a lot of spillage so everyone can hear. Don't be that annoying person trying to share your music through tiny speakers with the world around you. During testing, I made it through one whole workweek on a single charge before recharging. I have about two hours of commute per day, so I would say that is pretty close to the 12 hours of battery life that is advertised. All callers could hear me clearly, and I didn't have any complaints. Audio is excellent for the size of the speakers and voices shine audibly. Everything from mids to highs is audible but not much bass due to its small size. Overall, I am happy with these but they serve a purpose and will not replace earbuds. All is well but I wish in the future they would tweak the shape of the arms and refine the buttons to work with just one side to turn on and off. The sharp pointy buttons need to be reexamined to further improve the overall user experience.
