    Synopsis

    Mission: Impossible II
Director John Woo brings Hong Kong-style martial arts action to this comic book-flavored sequel that eschews the complicated plot and political maneuverings of its predecessor in favor of pure, adrenaline-charged thrills. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, an operative for the top-secret government agency IMF (Impossible Missions Force). Fellow agent Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) has gone rogue, stealing a sample of a deadly synthetic virus named Chimera that could rapidly wipe out the world's population. Ambrose's plan is to sell Chimera to the highest bidder in exchange for shares of stock in the winner's company. Summoned by the new IMF chief (Anthony Hopkins in an uncredited cameo role), Ethan is assigned to recruit the help of Ambrose's former lover Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton), a gorgeous woman who left Ambrose broken-hearted and who may be able to quickly regain his confidence. Once he meets and spends a night with Nyah, however, Ethan is smitten, and now must both capture Ambrose and keep Nyah alive as she infiltrates a nest of vipers. Sophisticated disguises, gun battles, and high-speed chases are the order of the day, very much in the James Bond mold. Mission: Impossible 2 is based on a story by Star Trek: The Next Generation writers Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga, with a script polish by Robert Towne. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

This 2160p/Dolby Vision presentation that's a thing of beauty. Much like the first film's UHD, there are some softer focus shots here and there, but they're interspersed amongst some impressively rendered close-ups. The Dolby Vision color palette is terrific, too. The level of refinement, natural intensity, increase in white brilliance, and add to black depth are all first-class. The image finds heightened color clarity and punch, never betraying the film's core color construction but only adding a level of realism to the presentation. no new extras are included, the carryover supplements are fine

M:I 2 is probably the worst of the series but Best Buy included the movie ticket (Up to $8) to go see M:I: Rogue Nation and that was worth the cost. If I am going to see the new movie anyway, I might as well spend the money and get two movies. The quality of the product is good and I would recommend it to someone looking for a needlessly overdone action movie with a weak storyline. Worth it with the movie ticket!

Luther may be the only continuity in the sequel, but it's such a blast from start to finish. The 4K transfer is exactly what fans needed - I don't remember it looking anywhere near as vibrant as it does here. The lossless audio is also leaps and bounds of an improvement.

The movie was exciting and action packed. Some of the themes from the original Mission Impossible TV show were carried over to this film. Tom Cruise is a great actor and was excellent in this film. Lots of technology. The plot was interesting and high tech. The only unbelievable thing was one man (Cruise) taking on all of the bad guys mostly by himself.

I'm not a huge fan of Tom Cruise but the MI series sans the first one (they needlessly destroyed the character of Jim Phelps and that's why Peter Graves declined to play his well known character.) have been pretty good. This second one and every one thereafter have been getting better and better. Its worth a buy in my opinion.

While this is probably more of a 3.5 instead of a 4, it's hard for me to call a Mission movie "average." So glad to see these movies in 4k, they are all a blast. Paramount did a FANTASTIC job converting them!

This movie was okay despite director John Woo's tendency to almost ruin it with overly extended slowmotion shots designed to make Tom Cruise look cool. Instead, these shots almost created a type of parody of hair blowing "I think I'm sexy" scenes that glorified violence, spoofed action sequences and interrupted the plot.

I love the Mission Impossible movies but this one is easily the worst one of the bunch. However this 4K version of it looks a lot nicer and is worth the upgrade if you like the movie or all the others.
