      VERY disappointing MyCareer Mode

I've been a die-hard fan of the 2K series for many years. Pre-ordering and counting down to the game very year was something I would look forward to with giddy glee. And this year, I'm seriously disappointed. They significantly cut down the "prelude" for your MyCareer mode in what feels like an attempt to rush you into the NBA level games. 2K17 was superior in allowing you more time in college and working your way up to the big show. Then they eliminated rookie mode for MyCareer! Look, some of us enjoy the game but we're not the obsessed fans that play 24/7 and have something called a life. We don't just immediately jump in on pro level and drop 80 points a game. Eliminating rookie for MyCareer has led to frustration after frustration. The storyline this year is VERY weak. The addition of a very annoying "friend" B-Fresh taints quite a few interactions. I don't know who made the choice to add that player but they need to be removed from any future 2K games. The game plays well, the graphics are great. That's the only reason I didn't give this one star for serious deficiencies in MyCareer. The weakness of MyCareer and 2K's apparent desire to drive people away from it vs. online play is going to make me not pre-order the game next year.

The NBA 2K series is hands down the best basketball game series ever. Year after year this series put NBA Live to shame. The graphics are outstanding and I'm playing on a standard PS4 and on a 1080p plasma tv. I can't tell you how many times people have said they thought I was watching a real game. The graphics are awesome. The sound is excellent as well. You'll hear side commentary from people like Kobe Bryant talk about the game and what their experience was while they played. The commentators talk realistically about what they are "seeing" in the game and show emotion when big plays occur. The also give commentary on specific players and the amount of voice work is staggering. One thing I will say is that if you have played the last few games in the series, you will hear some things you have heard before. Don't get me wrong, the game does not recycle the same thing over and over, but when you play the game for hours, you're bound to hear some repetition. I think 2K need to up their game and add a little more during the next season. Game play is where it counts for any game and this is where NBA 2K just blows the competition away. The basic controls are fairly easy to grasp but the controls are deep. You'll need to invest a lot of time into mastering the controls to be able to pull off some of the fancier moves. Once learned, muscle memory kicks in but the process of learning all the moves beyond the basics will take some work. If you are a NBA basketball fan, this is your game, period. You need not look anywhere else.

A total disgrace to the gaming indistry

This game is probably the worst game in this year. 2k company wants customers to pay more and more money into the game and makes it a total failure. I’m a fan for the 2K series and this one is a disgrace for both Kyrie Irving and Shaq Oneal. MyCareer is just some BS that you gotta spend more than 100 to be “good” and 200+ to be “great”. Can you imagine a 80-85 rating NBA star can’t shoot some free-throws or shoot a open three? Well this game will show it all to you. The story line to this game is a joke to me. Too much useless conversations and 2K just tries TOO much on nearly everything. Graphics are great, but the biggest problem for this one here is the endless glitches that has been a glitch since 2k12 around what, 5 years ago and they still haven’t fix it for god’s sake. I’m feeling like playing a Beta version of the game. Again, a total failure just don’t buy this one. I am going to try NBALive to be honest after 2k18.

WOW! Visual Concepts has done it again. I was not expecting this game to look or feel much different than 2k17. Man, am I pleasantly surprised. I would imagine that the rebirth of the NBA LIVE franchise has something to do with the extra TLC that 2k18 received from the development team. But who cares. It's a victory for us Bball fans, who get to enjoy the best version of 2k basketball to date. The attention to detail from the presentation to the play by play commentary to the on and off court action are all spot on. Graphics look amazing and every player feels different. This really feels like a true simulation of the sport. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the complete package that this game offers.

As a regular player of the NBA2k games, I upgrade every year and expect to be at low level in the My Career mode and build up, but WOW. Microtransactions galore. Haircut pay up $$, tattoo pay up $$, things that you would expect to pay ofcourse such as: shoes, swag gear, equipment, pay up $$. Not only do they almost force you to buy VC (virtual currency) if not, it will take thousands of games played to build your level up, it is near impossible to make shots even if you are maxed out. Good thing I bought this during Black Friday when it was half off, because I feel so bad for every one paying full price or even the gold editions. Folks, its not worth it.

At this point, you should know what to expect when it comes to NBA 2K gameplay. It really shines when on the court, and is one of the best (if not the best) sports game on the market when it comes to gameplay. The things the bring it down is the MyPlayer mode and MyTeam mode. Both modes require ungoldy amounts of grinding that push you towards buying VC, which in turn make the modes not as fun as the last couple years. If you just want to play bball, get this game, if you want to play the two modes I mentioned, it would probably be better to wait till next year.

NBA 2K18 is another step forward on the court, improving on the series’ already great gameplay. You’re rewarded for smart, controlled basketball when dribbling, driving, and playing defense in ways that make sense for the players you’re controlling. In the side modes, results are mixed: the new fusion of Career mode elements into The Neighborhood gives it some new life, but the same can’t be said for the meaningless story elements within MyGM, and microtransactions now have too much of an impact on gameplay. There’s far more good than bad, though, and NBA 2K18 deserves credit for taking chances.

Absolute garbage game. You can't pass or attack off the dribble inside without turning the ball over. The opponent is nearly unstoppable under any setting on offense. My GM is a travesty of a mode and my career is also garbage. This is the worst basket ball game I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing and playing I might as well have lit the $45 I payed for it up in my hand. Save yourself the absolutely infuriating frustration of trying to play basketball how it's played in real life on this game. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
