Director Chris Weitz’s historical thriller is based on the true story of how a group of Israeli secret agents arrested notorious SS officer Adolf Eichmann – the man who masterminded the “Final Solution” – in Argentina. Oscar Isaac plays the legendary Mossad agent Peter Malkin, while Ben Kingsley plays his emotionally manipulative arch-nemesis. After tracking Eichmann down to Buenos Aires, Malkin and his men captured him and brought him to Israel for a historic 8-month trial.~Augustine Chay
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for the family and we all absolutely loved it! I'm going to be honest here, the trailers simply don't do it justice. This is a must see movie, regardless of whether you are in to history or not.
Operation Finale is the story of how Adolph Eichmann, the archetect of Hitler's Final Solution, who escaped capture by the Allies at the end of World War II, is hunted down and captured by Israeli agents in Buenos Aires in the early 60's. As he is transported back to Europe to stand trial for his crimes against humanity, Eichmann argues with his captor that he was only following orders, and the Israeli agent argues that murder is murder no matter what the circumstances. Eichmann is played by Sir Ben Kingsley, who is chilling in his portrayal, and the head Israeli agent is portrayed by Oscar Isaac, who matches him scene for scene. The fact that this is a true story makes it all the more chilling. I would recommend this film to anyone interested an great drama and historical accuracy.
Considering the history of this true story, the film did not dwell on the detail of the horrific evil events excessively. The movie focused more on the interaction between the captive Eichmann and the Israeli agents as they planned to secretly extradite him to Israel. Probably will have the greatest impact on older viewers, more familiar with WW2.
The Blu-ray video is good displaying the directors intention of colorless interiors and a period faded look. Audio is fine but restrained as there is little real action in this movie.
I thought the reviews on this movie were too critical. I believe it was well made, and the story reminds us of the tragedies that occurred during ww2 which must never be forgotten. The story keeps you on your toes and interested and overall it is a great movie
If you a Ben Kingsley fan you will no doubt enjoy this feature about an escaped war criminal with an infamous history. The story is enticing and the cast are all great. If your a student of WW II and the history of actual accounts of occurrences during this period, you can't go wrong with this movie.
While the movie perhaps makes the story more complex and exciting than the actual operation was,You might compare it to Argo in the way the reality of thev escape was made more dramatic than it actually was. This is often what movies do. it gets at the horror that Eichmann presided over. The acting is excellent and Ben Kingsley's portray of Eichmann is chilling.
Bought this to watch and it is a good flick. I would recommend to all.
I would recommend this to a friend

DIFFICULT AND TOUCHY SUBJECT MATTER! THE PACE WAS QUICK BUT NOT TOO FAST! COVERED THE DIFFICULT TOPIC OF TRYING TO MAKE A TRULY DESPICABLE CHARACTER SEEM ALL TOO HUMAN AND THE SCRIPT AND THE ACTING WAS EXCELLENT! A BIT OF HUMAN HISTORY NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN!
