    Why only 4 stars

There are a lot of 5-star reviews here, but I wanted to write why I only gave this a 4-star review. It's not that this isn't a well-rounded camera. It has a fast shutter (fps), in body image stabilization and 4-K video. For most users, this will be a great camera. Here is the downside, the micro 4:3 sensor leaves little room for cropping within the image and lesser low-light capabilities. Now this is in comparison with my full-frame camera, which costs twice as much. But that full-frame camera weighs twice as much, is bulkier, slower shuttered and, as stated before, a lot more expensive. The limitations of micro 4:3 means you have to invest in lenses, especially zooms, to compensate for the lack of cropping ability. The good news is that Panasonic, Olympus and some third-party makers have created a stable full of great glass. And, like the camera, they are smaller, lighter and less expensive than full-frame and APSC camera lenses. So, this is why I only give the camera 4-stars. But like I said, most people can buy this camera in full confidence that it will provide them great shots for standard images for either social media or medium-size (8x11) prints.

If you're thinking about the lumix G7, you should look at the G85 which is the replacement. -New IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) allows you to use lenses that do not have IS built in. This is huge for me. -Real time 4k record-output via HDMI! and monitor via HDMI ! -Better battery life. (I recorded over an hour of 4k, with only 1 of 3 notches of battery power used. The G7 would usually die after almost an hour. -Nice chunky handle -Dual IS 2 -4208 bit internal recording to the SD! - removal of low pass filter! this actually seems to be one of the reasons the battery lasts longer (IMO).

I did a lot of research before buying this camera. Talked to a lot of friends who are into blogging/photography along with hours and hours of youtube reviews. Comparing this to the A6300-6500 they have their differences but if i was to choose id go with this one or the a6500 at this price point. Autofocus is better on the 6500 but overheating and battery are better on this in my opinion. Great price point if you're just getting started. This camera will do everything you need. I love it. No need to upgrade for a LONG time! What are you waiting forrrr get it!!!!

    Feature packed, but cheap feeling

I purchased this camera after reading and viewing many positive reviews. It certainly is feature packed for the price point - IBIS, weather sealing, 4k video and still modes, built in flash, built in interval shooting, internal flash, etc. The main reason I returned it was because the body felt cheap and plasticky. It certainly did not feel as stout as the Sonys, Olympuses (?) and Fuji cameras in and around the same price point. Although it is weather sealed, I really wondered if it would stand up to my frequent trips to the beach and trails. Also, while the video was fantastic, the pics were so-so. I believe they'd be much better with a better lens, but I didn't feel like spending another $1k for a MFTs 2.8. I may return to the brand, though, after the GH5 is released.

I spent a lot of time doing research for a new camera. I was thinking of either getting an OMD-em1 or GH4, but after reading reviews on this camera and shooting it side by side with the GH4, the Panasonic G85 blew me away. The in body stabilization is fantastic, especially with Dual IS2 using the new 12-60mm kit lens. I have taken shots in low light with 1 second exposure times that come out remarkably sharp. Really happy with my decision.

I bought this camera mainly because I want to learn more about videography, and I wanted something with 4k capability. I have to say that is not just the videos are great quality, but the 16mp photos are great too. Very easy menu system, lot of extra things, it is just a great MFT camera.

This is an awesome camera for the money. The G85 with kit lens is half the price of the GH5 body only. Very lightweight, great for travel and records in 4k video. Considered the Sony but it's got overheating problems to work out. Delivery to my home was pretty quick.

Great camera, super happy with my purchase. Only problem is the auto focus in low light while taking video. Pictures are beautiful and the 4k is sharp. Lots of features and the function buttons are an added bonus.
