    I like it....but

A few hours into game play and I knew I needed to write a review on this particular game. I absolutely love Pokemon games, and I have been playing since Leaf Green/Fire Red. Here are my impressions from the game. Pokemon Sun is a good game. I love all the new Pokemon, especially the three adorable new starters. The graphics are great. You can tell the improvement from Alpha Sapphire and XY. The overall theme, characters, colors, and customization are great. I'm glad they decided to bring back being able to chose different clothing items and stuff like that to make it a unique experience. However, they got rid of gym battles..... Which in my opinion is a major downfall. Any die heart Pokemon fan lives for gym battles and gym badges. Now we have something called Island Trails. Which are okay.... in terms, but no where near as fun as gyms. They also got rid of HM's and replaced them with pagers that you can use to call different Pokemon to aid you in your quest. This isn't a bad feature. Overall the game is very very different compared to what we have had in the past. There is ALOT alot alot of commentary in this game. Which I usually enjoy but it is a little excessive this time. If you can get past the changes the game is still a good buy. It still has the great Pokemon atmosphere we all know and love, just with several changes. I would recommend this game to a friend.

Now that I have it and that I've played it, the game starts off super slowly. It's a great game, but it's hard to play continuously and not get bored playing it.

    Loving It!

This is my first Pokemon game in a while. My first one was Pokemon Ruby for the Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP. Maybe I love this game because of how much improvement has been made since the 2003 game, but none the less I LOVE this game so far. I chose the digital download so I wouldn't lose the game cartridge, I tend to do so. I recommend for you all that read this to go buy either the digital copy or physical copy.

Best Pokemon Game Yet! A Must Buy!

Over the Thanksgiving Weekend I found myself walking out of Bestbuy with a New Nintendo 3ds and a copy of Pokemon Sun which is the counterpart to Pokemon Moon. What drove me to buy it was the promise of new and different gameplay and an exciting new region to explore. But did it deliver on those promises? The last Pokemon game I played was Pokemon White which came out about 6 years ago. However even though some time has passed the last couple of releases have stuck to the old style of gameplay. You start off with your first Pokemon given to you at the start of the game. Then as you progress through the game you collect more Pokemon to add to your team which You use to battle other Pokemon trainers. Your ultimate goal in the game is to go through different cities and towns and challenge the gym leaders who are the strongest Pokemon trainers in their city. After defeating each leader you obtain a gym badge and once you collect all eight badges you go on to face the Elite Four and the Pokemon League Champion. This formula of gameplay has been used for the past 20 years with minor tweaks and adjustments for each new installment. This type of gameplay may get boring after a while but fans of the series still enjoy it. Upon first starting my adventure I immediately realized the graphical improvement over its predecessors. That may be a given as it has been 6 years since I played a Pokemon game but the leap from 2d to 3d models have definitely made the game a treat to look at. Pokemon Sun and Moon take place in region based on Hawaii called Alola, so the setting is dense with lush foliage and vibrant colors. The game started off like many of the ones before it, get your first Pokemon from the Pokemon Professor and begin your adventure to become the very best Pokemon trainer. However the objective was quite different. Instead of collecting gym badges there were four different islands to visit and you must take each of the Island Trials. These trials don't only consist of battling though. They include little minigames such as scavenger hunts and puzzles which is a breath of fresh air from all the constant battling.. This game also ties in the story much better than before. In previous games you could almost entirely skip over the story as your main objective was to win the Pokemon League. In Pokemon Sun and Moon you help a Pokemon named Cosmog from being used for evil by the two antagonistic groups, the Aether Foundation and Team Skull. After you save Cosmog and finish all the Island Trials you still have to take on the Pokemon League and cement yourself as Champion of the Alola region. Even after the main story is over there is still plenty to do as their is an online mode where you can battle against and trade with your friends in which you can pour several more hours into. Pokemon Sun and Moon may be the best pokemon games I’ve ever played because the setting was beautiful, the different types of pokemon were awesome, and the gameplay was fresh and exciting. That is why, in my opinion, Pokemon Sun and Moon is a must buy for any fan or newcomer to the series.

Very Different From Any Previous Pokémon

Before you decide to purchase this game you need to understand that it is completely different from any previous Pokémon game. The only similarities are the battles. If you don't mind hand-holding through the entire game and the difficulty being extremely easy where strategy is barely used, then you may really like this game. Yes, this game did bring a nice change of pace from the previous games, but in my opinion shouldn't have been released as part of the main series and instead with the games like mystery dungeon. Also, it was unfortunate that I found myself choosing the Pokémon from the previous generations, rather than the new ones since the majority of them were much more powerful. If you have the chance to test the game out before you purchase it I would highly recommend doing so, since it isn't for everyone.
