POWER A Enhanced Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch
I bought this for my 6 year old son for his Switch. He absolutely loves it! It’s so much easier to use versus the joycons. It’s lightweight, but not cheap. It connects right away every single time. So happy with this purchase. I might even purchase a 2nd one.
Was hesitant to get this at first because of the negative reviews reporting quality and connection issues but wasn't looking to spend so much money on an official pro controller and most of the reviews were positive so thought I'd give this controller a shot.
Connecting it to the switch was easy and there are no connection issues thus far. The controller feels sturdy and heavy (partially because of the batteries) and fits well in the hand. It may be a little too big for those with small hands though. No notable negatives I can see so far.
I've only had it for a few weeks but I haven't run into any issues so I would recommend this if you're looking for a good budget pro controller option.
I love this controller and the design! It's great and easy to use, it requires 2 AA batteries which may turn off some people, but I have no problem with that. However I do only recommend this or any Power A wireless controller, if it is on sale. Paying $50 is a bit much, however I've gotten all of them for 39.99 or cheaper. So if on sale I recommend, if not than just fork over the extra $10 and get the official pro controller.
My review is purely opinionated.
The price tag matches competitors controllers during Black Friday, meaning that the regular price for this item is equivalent to the discount price of competitor items; however, I feel like the controller is a bit small and also think that the materials are not that great. I have not used it for long, but compared to my Xbox controllers, this thing feels light and toy-like, not solid. It lacks some width and weight to it (in my opinion) but I have not had any issues so far.
One complaint with this controller is it tries to make itself look like Nintendo made it. When in fact it is a 3rd party product. The controller is still of good quality though and works great. Another dig is it that the controller won’t take a battery pack. Rechargeables work great though. Good controller overall.
But it because The joysticks that come with the switch we’re not cutting it on some of my games so I decided to buy this one. I really like that it’s light in my hands it’s not heavy and it’s easy to use. It does have two extra buttons too.
We bought one of each of the four skins - they are great replacements for malfunctioning joy-cons, and are easier for visiting holiday guests (who are new to Nintendo Switch) to figure out.
Only minus is the amiibo-reading (NFC) functionality is not available on these, so if you use that in any games you will still need a controller/joy-con with that capability.
Big Plus - they are very efficient, and last a long time between battery changes. For any family like ours with a tray of rechargeable AA batteries, these are a no brainer.
A:AnswerThey are a set of extra buttons that can be programmed to replicate any other button on the controller. For example, you could set the back-left (AGL) button to work as pressing the A button would.
Essentially they can either work as hotkeys or assist with general accessibility in your games.
