The 1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 is designed to offer images that have a shallow depth of field and pleasing background. This lens works well in low light and can grab everything from a close up to an expansive landscape. The 1 NIKKOR 10mm has a picture angle equivalent of a 27mm in 35mm format while a 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 would have a picture angle equivalent to a 50mm lens in 35mm format. The difference is in the amount of depth of field that you are able to achieve with each lens.
