“Hi, I already got the computer and am very happy with it. But when I got back from work one day the audio just wasn't working. It says its on mute but when I click the icon to turn mute off, it goes into a troubleshoot that doesn't detect any problems.”

There was a recent Windows Update which messed up the audio on many devices, including some HP models. There was an automatic fix sent out this weekend, please download the latest updates to get the fix.
