Why is this thing so slow right out of the box? null

Not sure what you mean by "slow". I haven't found mine to be slow at all. Also, when you say "out of the box", have all updates completed? Yes, this takes a while, but I don't see this as a "slow computer", it's busy doing updates. Suggest you do an internet speed check as well. Is it your computer or your internet that's really slow? Your ISP's stated GB/S rating is useless, you will never achieve that actual speed. Do an online speed test.
