Yes they can be not sure on the surface but I'd say its all same there a clip that holds the button on under the ky most likely chipped but im sure they can repair it in just a short time most likely

That sounds like something the Geek Squad/BB would cover under their warranty if you purchased their warranty plan. If you did, then this could be a simple resolution to your dilemma. Good luck!
