If there is a recall that's covered by the manufacturer. You don't need a protection plan for that, just proof of purchase. The replacement plan will cover a replacement, or they can give you credit towards a new item of your choosing and you just pay the difference

The call center staff on the phone were very helpful and said that they could replace it or give me a refund as soon as I went to the store. But in the store, the geek squad staff had major attitude and did not want to honor the plan. But they said they had to because I found the loophole around Best Buy’s “no in store returns“ recall policy.
