The great thing about Best buy is that you can do the warranty online or in person. But be aware there is a time period on how long your warranty last

When you need to use it they'll look it up with your Best Buy account and as long as you are past your term or have damaged the item in a non-warranty covered way then you should be fine. You can check your plan details on your Best Buy account.
