Every time I’ve purchased a digital gift card, I usually receive the e-mail 30-45 minutes later.
My most recent purchase took about 12 hours, probably due to the high Black Friday demand. 
If you haven’t received your e-mail after 24 hours, contact customer service.

I placed e-gift card order on 07/06/23 in the afternoon. 1 hour was the max hold time suggested and 1hr passed and nothing. I called customer support and they stated “they will expedite my order and I would receive the e-gift card in 3 hrs maximum. 3 hours passes and it’s now 10:38PM and absolutely nothing yet again. I called and was on hold for the second time and when I finally got through the associate hung up. Just wow! This is supposed to be for a birthday gift. They didn’t waste one second to withdraw the money from my account but you refuse to deliver the e-gift card I purchased ? How exactly does this work. I was already dreading the wait once I saw the multitude of horrible reviews here.

DO NOT BUY DIGITAL CARDS HERE!!!! People are told that it will be a 30 minute wait, but the only way to release your digital gift cards is by contacting support and waiting longer….I’m currently 16 hours deep and still no sign of the gift cards. There has not been a single positive thing in this experience and I’ll never use their online store again.

I have had to place 2 separate orders, as the first one was cancelled by their team and was advised to place a second order, which I should receive my email within 30 minutes. I am now almost 24 hours in on the second order, I just got off the phone with their "digital" department and was informed I had to wait until the 48 hour mark! This is freaking ridiculous and I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE HERE! Everyone I have spoken to, at least 6 to 8 people have said I do apologize, I'm sorry, but not 1 has fixed this issue. Terrible.

This caused my divorce, I was  purchasing a Xbox game pass for our son Timmy. For context me and my wife have been rocky for the few month leading up to Timmy's birthday, She had caught me looking up some very non Christian videos online, and lets just say she has had me in a "belt" ever since. I've been sleeping in the garage for months next to my motorcycle, sometimes its gets so cold at night, i turn it on and hold it as if it was my wife. Anyhow, I order the gift card a day before Timmy's and it took 30 hours to send a  DIGITAL GIFT CARD. I went the whole day looking like a bad father who hadn't gotten their kid a birthday gift. I tried to tell my wife that I had order the gift card last night in my makeshift bed in our garage, but she simply didn't believed me. She took out her whip and hit me and ordered me to leave,  Timmy was left crying at the sight of it. I'm writing this in the vents of my old house. I tried selling my motorcycle in order to afford a new apartment but with this housing  market I can't. Sometimes I sneak out of the vents and eat my ex wife's food. It keeps me going, Anyways my word of advice, don't order gift card from best buy.

I am a US student currently studying abroad, and I haven't been able to use my Best Buy credit card enough because I am not back in the US often. I've missed bridal showers, baby showers, funerals, birthdays, graduations, etc. and typically send people gift cards digitally, which feels impersonal at times. I saw that I could buy digital gift cards at Best Buy and thought, "This is going to be the perfect way for me to buy gifts and also keep my card open for my laptop purchase in September when I'm back home for the first time in a year!" I go ahead and buy multiple gift cards, thinking they'll arrive in an hour. I also create cute personal collages to send out that say, "gift on its way! Look out!", since sometimes people miss these emails or they go to spam. Fast forward to now, 10 hours later, I'm still staring at the same screen as everyone else here (when usually my digital gift cards are sent within an hour from other vendors).  I am shaking my head right now because I *always* read reviews and didn't think I needed to do this for Gift. Cards. !!!! C'mon, Best Buy, seriously, guys? Let's get a better system going here for this. I'm so thankful that I didn't send the "on it's way" email cause how embarrassing would that have been? I'm so nervous this will take days or weeks now. At that rate, I could've just bought the cards when I'm back!

It will take days. They will immediately take your money, however you won’t receive the actual code emailed to you for several days.  They will tell you within a couple hours max but that isn’t true. If you don’t believe me take time to read all of the comments and research other people’s experiences and opinions regarding digital gift cards

Still waiting, 12+ hours later. Online customer support just said to wait it out, that it "tends to be" between 1-2hrs, even though I contacted them 10hrs after it should have been delivered. Then calling customer support got no extra information. Just that it should appear in 24-48hrs. Seriously defeats the purpose of a digital gift card.

Take the other answers seriously, Best Buy takes ages to email digital cards.

It took a full day for them to send me my code. I've bought another one now to see if anything has changed, and sure enough I'm still waiting the next day.

Just use a different store like Target or Walmart and get it in a few minutes as you'd expect. Or, save yourself a day and go to a real store.
