“I have 2 laptops that I need to switch between the extended desktops to a projector. Will this allow the laptops to think hey are always connected and not resize the extended desktop every time I switch between the 2? Does it collect Edid info every time”

This product does not have an EDID handshake minder, so when you switch off of an input, the input is dead. You would either need some sort of EDID minder or a more professional switcher with handshaking capabilities
