Either your cable is bad, or the blu-ray player is. Have you tried a separate cable?

If it works, then it may be an issue with the switch. If it doesn't, then it's either the player or cable. Also try connecting your blu-ray player with the HDMI cable you use for the cable box just to eliminate the possibility that we're not dealing with a faulty cable. If it still doesn't work, does your blu-ray player have component cable (red, blue, green) connectors too? On one of my blu-ray players, it was set to output on component instead of HDMI. If this is the case and you still have your product manual, there may be a way to switch the output signal from component to HDMI without having to use the on-screen menu. If not, you'll have to connect it with component cables first so that you can see the on-screen menu, select output via HDMI and then you can then connect your HDMI cable.
