“HT-J4500 Blu-Ray won't output sound from a blu-ray disk. The voices are muffled but the sound effects are clear. J4500 is connected by hdmi to an older Samsung LN40B550 TV. Directing sound to the TV works OK but can't get theater sound to work.”

I had the same problem until I changed one of the TV sound options: My old Sony KDL-40M4000 has an option under the Sound menu (note icon). I turned Steady Sound ON. Magically works again.
