“What size audio optical cable will i need to connect my tv which is an Emerson? Is it circle or square? I purchased a Rca brand and the back jacks didnt match the back of my Tv. Please help”

Check the manual for your TV. If it supports RAC (Reverse Audio Channel) then you don't need the optical cable. RAC routes the TV's audio to the home theater over the same HDMI cable which routes video from the home theater to the TV. All HDMI cables are legally required to support RAC per the licensing agreement.
