Voices come from the center speaker. I suggest you make sure that it is properly plugged in. I had the same problem when I first hooked up my home theater system and I found out that the wires going into the center speaker were not connected correctly. The wires were not pushed in far enough. Once I connected them correctly, I could hear voices.
