“Right now i have an antenna to pick up local channels connected to my projector. If i am watching tv using the antenna, will the sound play through the speakers? Also, do i need to buy a stereo receiver for the surround sound to work?”

As long as you have an updated t.v. that has a digital optical input you can. Just get a digital optical cable and hook it to both the system and your t.v. and play the sound through the digital in function on the surround
