Processor chip cost and capabilities ... and date of manufacture/chip design date ... Celeron is lowest cost chip of the three ... Pentium would be mid-level and the I3/I5/I7 chips are more recent designs. The I-series would be good for having multiple windows (tabs) open on the screen at same time -- faster processor chip (heavy duty use of the device with multiple apps in use at same time -- using as a laptop substitute). Most Chromebooks are powered by Celeron chips and cost less.

I won't go into detail on which is considered faster because it would be mostly applicable with a standard laptop and not a browser based Chrome OS chromebook ... they all are fast and work fine.
