"Ambrose" is correct about the DVD situation, but he forgets that all MS Windows computers come with a Microsoft developed antivirus product, called "Defender." It is adequate for most people, but you can replace it with a number of commercial products, both paid and free, like Norton, AVG, etc.

It does NOT come with a built-in DVD player, however, you can buy a DVD adapter and plug it in to one of the USB ports on the laptop and it should work. It does come with a trial of McAfee virus protection but not permanent, and I personally don't like McAfee anyway. I would suggest getting other virus protection, and to just practice common sense on the internet.
