• There is two variants of this Nitro 5 laptop. The one that comes with a 1TB HDD and the one that comes with 256GB M.2 SSD. So, the variant that comes with M.2 SSD have a empty HDD slot, yes.

• Yes but getting the back off is a hassle. The screws in the back are merely a formality the body is very well made and everything clips into place. I had to use a guitar pick around the edges to pop everything out of the clips and then you also need to do along the back side edge where the red meets the black. Took forever because I was afraid I was going to snap something off but I got my SSD from my old laptop installed finally.
