It can, but is generally not recommended. Honestly 16GB of DDR4 2666 MHz is overkill for anything. Save money and just get a second 8GB 2666 MHz SODIMM.

Mine came with a DDR4-2400 in the factory-sealed box. Best case, it clearly depends on the luck of the draw which speed RAM module you get. Either use a program like CPUz or physically inspect the RAM module in your laptop before you order a 2nd module. It's best to not mix RAM modules with different speed ratings. For example, my AN515-53-55G9 came in factory-sealed box with 1x 8GB DDR4-2400 RAM module: per CPUz = SK Hynix SO-DIMM 8GB, DDR4-2400, CL17-17-17 Module Label = sk Hynix 8GB 1Rx8 PC4-2400T-SA1-11
