It currently runs Android apps in the beta preview, which you can access buy going the to "about" section of your Chromebook (At the top of the settings menu). That being said, it will likely be in the stable channel in the next month of two if you want to wait (It may be there now if you're reading this in 2017). It should be noted that without GPS or an accelerometer, some apps may be unstable or not run at all. Also, some apps, as is true for all Android tablets, only run in portrait mode, so son't expect to be able to use the Keyboard and snapchat at once. There are TONs of positives too however, and I wouldn't let these small inconveniences be the deciding factor in your purchase decision. For an FYI, the Asus Chromebook flip is a smaller chromebook, but is among the first that will get Android Apps in the stable channel, as announced by Google and has comparable specs for RAM and storage to this model.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is supported. You have to switch to the dev channel however, which is no big deal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does NOT run Android Apps right now (10/27/16). The Chromebook help site on Google states that this model WILL run Android apps after a future update sometime later this year/early next year.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is supposed to, but unfortunately it was released before that option was enabled. There is currently a BETA build of the ChromeOS that supports Android apps, but until it is pushed to live you will have to be satisfied with Chrome Apps and extensions only . Expect Android compatibility by end of 2016 to early 2017. I picked mine up today and was disappointed as my new R13 kept telling me that my existing apps were not compatible with this device. Sorry. :'(
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does run some, and very well, that I'm used to having, but your experience may differ. Since it is on the Developer Channel that you can run Android, you are very likely to find some bugs or other issues if you use a long list of apps. However, this computer is slated by Google/Chrome for inclusion in future updates. So I would expect it to be in really good shape in the near future.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
