The specs on Dell's website say that both of the M.2 2280 as well as both of the M.2 2230 slot interfaces are PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe, up to 64 Gbps. The 2280's can be up to 4TB each and the 2230's can be up to 512GB each. I installed the Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe Gen4 M.2 SSD in mine and it works wonderfully. You will need to also purchase a M.2 2280 SSD Heat Thermal Shield Heatsink designed specifically for the M16/M18 Alienware laptops. You can find these on Dell's website or on Amazon for cheap.
