“I’m currently using this headset wired to my PlayStation 4 (not wireless) and I am unable to use the features like adjusting volume, mute on/off and game chat mixer. When i try and adjust nothing happens. Is this normal ?”

Yes it's normal, the external device controls volume input of the jack, I use the wired input on my phone for discord and adjust volume on my phone and the wireless on my ps4 and ps5, so I can have game chat and private chat with friends on discord going at the same time
