Hi Jimmy, Thank you for contacting Whirlpool Central Advisors! When used according to the manufacturer's guidelines, the all-metal grain mill attachment should not damage your KitchenAid mixer, but it is important to remember that milling is the most strenuous task the machine can perform. To prevent motor burnout or gear strain, you must operate the mixer at Speed 10 to keep the internal cooling fan running at its maximum, limit your grinding to 10 cups at a time, and allow the motor to cool for at least 45 minutes between batches. Damage typically only occurs if the mixer is run at low speeds, used for oily items like coffee or nuts which can clog the mechanism, or pushed beyond its thermal limits. Following these steps ensures that the heavy resistance of the grinding burrs doesn't lead to overheating or mechanical failure. I hope this helps, thank you.
