“I have tried two different external hard drives. When I plug them in the box says "boot" and nothing works. Any suggestions?”

It works well for me. Did you buy an HDMI cable that goes from the tuner box to the TV? and did you do the same with a coaxial cable? The Aluratek allows me to watch a nice array of channels including most of the major networks except for ABC.

You then need to go to the remote control, tap menu, navigate over to the USB tab. choose PVR configure, choose format and make sure your USB stick or drive is formatted for recording. Then back out of that page and go to Record Device. You will see your Disk (C: USB1), choose Timeshift size and set that to 4.0 GB. Then exit.
