“When you set up timer record, leave the unit "on" or "off"? Some recorders in past had to be turned "off". Does the TV have to be on to record (hopefully not!)? How do you know what size thumb drive (how many GB) you need for several hours of recording?”

• The box must be on, but I don't believe TV does, as it's picking up the antenna signal as opposed to needing the TV's being powered on.

• When recording with the timer or recording by selecting a future program in the program guide mine will record the show if it is turned on or off.

• We recommend 32GB USB thumb drive or smaller. Be sure to format the drive once using the TV box remote in the USB HBPVR settings. It is best to leave the box on for recordings.
