This unit is not Internet-capable. It is designed strictly to receive digital over-the-air broadcasts. In order to record a program, a flash drive (not included) must be attached. While the unit is recording, the channel being recorded is the only channel that can be viewed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can watch WIFI programs if you have a WiFi service and say Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or Sling without a converter box But to watch over air channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, Etc.) you will need this box and an antenna to view them. I currently am doing. Cut the cost significantly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use this DVR with a Smart TV. But this DVR will not record from a streaming channel like Paramount + or Britbox or Peacock. It is designed to record from an OTA antenna only. To record a OTA channel use a COAX splitter to run one COAX cable from your antenna to the DVR and the second COAX cable to the antenna input on the back of the TV. Then you can set the Aluratek DVR to record one OTA channel while you watch another OTA channel or watch a streaming channel or even watch a DVD while the OTA channel is recording. Use a HDMI cable to connect the DVR to the TV. Use your Samsung ‘Home’ button to select whatever you want to watch while the DVR is recording the OTA channel you have selected to record. Then when you want to watch the recording, select the HDMI input on your ‘Home’ screen that you plugged the DVR into to watch your recording.
