Can this be positioned behind an 85" tv? null

Depends on where the TV connectors are, but usually yes. The indoor antenna connects to the RF-in on the back of the Aluratek, then the Aluratek connects to the HDMI on the TV. Set the TV to that HDMI port and follow the setup directions. Contact support@aluratek.com if you need some help.
