Out of the box it is setup as ventless, but can changed to vented. Either out the back or out the top.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It is a convertible vent system. It can be used for venting outside or for recirculating the air inside. I bought it as a gift I will be installing this weekend, but it is the same as the Maytag I had bought for myself. Hope this helps
