I asked the the Best Buy installer about it when he installed ours last month and he showed me the location of the filter on the fridge and how to install a new one when needed. Also, the Best Buy installer told me I can purchase new water filters at the store if I needed a new one. But yes, it comes with a filter already installed when purchased new.
