“Most washers you can start filling with water, add your soap, then add clothes. Can I not do that with this washer? It doesn’t let you turn it on with the top open??”

NO this is a safety feature I believe washer manufactures have been doing for awhile as far as I know I put my soap in first then my clothes close the lid select my wash cycle and and hit the start button. My clothes come out clean I have not seen a problem with the way this machine operates. I hope this helps

Please try again later.Hi Nicole,this washer senses the water level based on the load of clothes.so you will need to put in the clothes and the detergent first .Also the washer will be paused or will not start a cycle if the lid is kept open.Thank you for your inquiry on our Amana appliances.
