Hi Fred,With smoothtop ranges and cooktops we recommend certain material and cookware size for best cooking performance. We have found that stainless or aluminum cookware, without copper clad bottoms or cores, work best. Cast iron and or enamel (glassware) cookware can be used, although they may not perform as well.An important factor when selecting the proper cookware for a smoothtop is that the bottom of the pan be completely flat. It should have no dents or ridges. If the pan is not completely flat, it will not be in total contact with the burner and may lead to inconsistent cooking results. If the pan has small channels from the factory, but is otherwise flat, it can be used.An important factor when selecting the proper cookware for a smoothtop is that the bottom of the pan be completely flat.
