• Hello EML, a range or wall oven with all racks in the oven cavity will preheat to 350°F in: 12 - 15 minutes (+/- 5 minutes). Thank you for your inquiry on our Amana appliances.

• Don't know exactly if you have a defective unit.. i do notice that it takes a little longer than a traditional one but at the end it cooks better and more precise... My wife it's happy with it..
